Neighborhood Lemonade Benefit Stand

The neighborhood kiddos came together for a great cause in May! Their lemonade stands and the generosity of neighbors and friends of the neighborhood raised over $600 for the Minnesota Make a Wish Foundation! WOW!!!! A big thank you to everyone who participated! What a great neighborhood event! Can't wait for next year!

This event began as Lemonade for the Lukach's in 2009; a benefit for our neighbor, Jennifer Lukach who was bravely battled cancer. Jen passed away in August of 2009 with her family by her side! We continue this event in her memory and honor and send a big thank you out to her husband Matt and daughter Sophi for choosing MN Make a Wish as the recipient of this years event!

GNA Lemonade Stand Benefit - TUESDAY, MAY 18th

When: Tuesday, May 18th from 7-7:30 p.m.
Where: Park/field on Park Drive SE
FREE WILL OFFERING

Come on out to support the neighborhood youth at the GNA Lemonade Stand Benefit (in honor and memory of our neighbor, Jennifer Lukach). Proceeds will go to the MN Make a Wish Foundation, an organization chosen by Matt and Sophi Lukach.

This event began last year as a benefit for our neighbor, Jennifer Lukach as she bravely battled cancer. It was such an awesome opportunity to get the neighborhood kids involved in serving others that we have decided to continue it in Jen's memory and honor!

There will be several kids with lemonade stands set up, so come thirsty:)

For families/kids setting up lemonade stands:
*Contact Jenny Hanson at jstromli@yahoo.com or 773-0673 so she can bring you your packet of lemonade
*You provide your table/stand, pitcher, and cups
*Don't forget to have an envelope or box to collect donations in
*Have your stand/table ready to go by 7 p.m.
*Don't forget to talk to your kiddos about WHY we are doing this!

Greenway Meals to Go!!!

Don't forget...Greenway Meals to Go is always up and running!

This is a meals ministry program...neighbors provide meals for neighbors with new babies, neighbors experiencing health issues or a personal loss, and new neighbors moving in!

We keep our ears open for news of such situations, but we ask for the help of all our neighbors to keep us posted of those who could benefit from the Meals to Go program.

If you haven't cooked a meal for a neighbor through the program before, I really wanted to encourage you to try it out! It is a wonderful way to serve very appreciative neighbors and a great opportunity to get to know neighbors better! And remember, cooking takes on many forms - including take and bake pizzas and takeout:)

GNA Registration is ON!

Information packets for a new year of the GNA were delivered to your homes today! If you want to be a part of the GNA this year, registration forms and fees are due by Wednesday, May 19th!

We are excited for another year of fun, friends, and festivities!!!!

Winter Fun Day!

The first Greenway Neighborhood Winter Fun Day was held on Saturday, February 6th and FUN was the word of the day! What a great time we had! We were blessed with beautiful weather!

There was iceskating, snow angel making, snowman building, cookies and hot chocolate, and the highlight of the day...the SLED RACES!!! If you weren't there, you missed out on some good entertainment! Bryn Hanson, pulled by neighbor Nate Olson, took 1st place in the sled races!!! The Kraft Family won the snowman contest and Nick Mitzel took top prize for his snow angel!!!

In the evening, the adults got a chance to catch up and enjoy conversation and company at a soup party!!! Thanks to Jim and Julie Scheef, Nate and Liz Olson, and Jenna and Joe Zavoral for being the chefs for the soup party! It was YUUUUUUUMMMMMYYYY!!!!

Special thanks to Mark and Naomi McGaughey for coming up with this great event idea, heading up planning, and hosting the festivities...everyone had a wonderful time!!!!

Looking ahead...save the date of Tuesday, May 18th

Save the date of Tuesday, May 18th, from 7-7:30 p.m. for the Greenway Kids Lemonade Stand Service Project.

Last year the kids set up lemonade stands at the park with proceeds going to the Lukach Family. What a neat event it was! So great to get the kids, who ranged in age from 2-10 years involved in community service and to see the way in which neighbors so generously gave. We all particularly enjoyed how each lemonade stand seemed to have an 'extra' to try and draw people in, whether it was baked goods, or licorice, or suckers! What fun to see the creativity and just a great opportunity to get the kids involved in helping others!

We thought that this is something we would like to make a tradition, picking a different cause each year for the lemonade stands to benefit.

Details will come as the date approaches
